I am very excited about this post! I have been wanting to shoot for this magazine for some time now and was extremely excited to end 2011 with a photo shoot for LA Confidential. Towards the end of 2011, the photo editor contacted me for a photo shoot and at last minute they story was cancelled. I was bummed but hoped they would contact me again.....and they did!

Atlantan Magazine, based in Atlanta, GA, contacted me to photograph Christy Redd. She is the partner/owner of American Tanning & Leather Company which is America's oldest and largest exotic leather tannery. They specialize in alligator and crocodile skins for handbags, garments, accessories, and shoes!

She was such a pleasure to photograph and looked fabulous! Take a look at the tear sheet!

Yep, thats right, I am now being supported by Wonderful Machine! It is a marketing engine for commercial photographers to introduce a broud range of high-quality clients to photographers. Every month they set up meetings with advertising agencies and magazines to showcase the photographers they rep. I've kept my eyes on them for a while now and was very impressed by how much work they put into promoting their photographers. I sent out an email to introduce myself and my work and got the good news that they wanted me on board!

For this months issue I had some pretty exciting photo shoots! I got to meet and photograph the band She Wants Revenge, an awesome new bar/lounge in Downtown LA called Perch (and might I mention has an unbelieveable view of the city), a fitness trainer that has a fun new way to work out with a Caribbean twist, and a neat restaurant in Malibu with an amazing outdoor patio!

RESPECT Magazine Vol 2. Issue 1

Getting a call from the producers at Kids With Candy I was excited to get a call to work with them again and more excited that the shoot was in Las Vegas with a major hip hop artist, B.o.B!

Meeting Bobby Ray was really exciting. He was really laid back and very easy to work with. Only having 30 minutes with him was a challenge but made the shoot that much more exciting! Shooting away for the full 30 minutes we got some great shots and the article looks great, if I do say so myself!

The new issue of Café Magazine is out and I couldn't be more excited! It is the first time my work is published outside of California! Café Magazine is out in Chicago, IL and they call me to photograph stories on the west coast, more specifically here in Los Angeles.

This issue has the photo shoot I had with Jesse Lozano of 102.7 KIIS FM and his adorable daughter Savannah. Check out the tear's and the final images from that shoot!

Photo Shoot with Interior Designer Jamie Bush

Last month I met and photographed Jamie Bush for Angeleno Magazine and we had a great shoot! After we finished photographing his space I sat him down for a quick portrait which was too easy with his laid back personality and sense of style. After the shoot Jamie wanted to use one of the portraits for his website and here it is!

It's great when magazines publish my work and its just as great when clients license my work for their own personal use. Thanks Jamie for a great shoot! ...and i'm still in love with that painting!

It's been a busy few weeks and I have a lot of new work to show! Angeleno has been keeping me pretty busy and now its time to show it off! New tearsheets!!

It is a story on the Houston twins, Marc and Johnny Houston, and their new lounge called La Descarga. It is a recreation of pre-Fidel Havana and has every kind of rum you can think of. With their great concept of its lounge and their attention to detail I have no doubt this lounge is going to do well.

This month in Angeleno I had a few pictures published! A few smaller stories and the one below!

It is a story on these two husband-and-wife-architects, Jeffrey Allsbrook and Silvia Kuhle. A cute quiet couple who's houses speak for itself! Using salvaged wood for this house, their use of space and light along with organic materials made this house so peaceful even though it was blocks from a busy intersection.

Café Magazine

Being Cuban American I've always wanted to work and collaborate with other creative Latinos and I'm finally getting that chance! I was introdued to AlBerto Treviño, founder/art director of Café Magazine, from a fellow photographer and friend (Natalya Madolora www.nattyimages.com).

Café Magazine is an online and print magazine that is based in Chicago, IL. It targets latinos in all areas and all age groups. With its cute and corkey titles such as "el Cafecito" and "Cafe Espresso" I am very excited to be working with everyone at Café Media!

Here is the first assignment I had. It was a story on a bar here in LA called "La Cita".

Orange Coast Magazine: February 2010

My first shoot of this year was for Orange Coast Magazine; and what a shoot it was! I was called to photograph the owners of Alice Supply Co., a super cute hip houseware collection . Seeing their collection of colorful supplies from plungers to hoses, I had to come up with a fun way to photograph them, and I did just that!

Coming up with a silly concept the ladies were enthusiastic and excited to shoot! And as you can see in the pictures, we had a lot of fun! Check out the final image!

I walked away from this shoot soaked from the knee's down! I didn't have a large enough piece of plexi but I didn't care, I got my shot and had a blast in doing so!

Ok, so back in November i had a photo shoot with Greg and Jeff Burns of Twin Hype. They are the composers of the tv show NCIS! Their publicist Marlan Willardson of MWPR | Entertainment Public Relations contacted me to photograph there new publicity photo's and I gladly accepted!

Having an 8 hour photo shoot with 5 wardrobe changes, 4 different locations, and a great team on set, we all had a blast and have some great images to show for it!

Hello 2010!

Boy oh boy did things get busy towards the end of the year! The month of December flew by so quickly that I didn't even get to post any new work and news! But you'd better believe I've been busy! Getting called for shoots right before Christmas, day's before the new year rings, and days after we stepped into 2010...its been nonstop!

With it being a new year comes new goals, not resolutions, but goals! I'm making my list of people to contact, magazines to introduce myself and my work to, and companies to start working/collaborating with! Reading a quote a few days ago its stuck in my mind...

"Draw a line. Live above it." - unknown.

Here's a little blurb from a book I keep by my night stand and read often: "You can achieve the unachievable. Firstly you need to aim beyond what you are capable of. You must develop a complete disregard for where your abilities end. If you think you're unable to be on the cover of TIME magazine, make it your business to be there. Make your vision of where you want to be a reality. Nothing is impossible" from the book "It's not how good you are, its how good you want to be" by Paul Arden.

So, I'm stepping into this near year with a drive and motivation to make some new contacts, get more work with new magazines, and more than anything, take more pictures!

Riviera Magazine: November 2009

It's November and time for new work to be published! ...And this time all the way out in San Diego, California!

I got called to photograph Sandra Equihua, illustrator for Nickeloden! She recently won her first Emmy for her character designs on "El Tigre, The Adventures of Manny Rivera" (Nickeloden). She co-creates the show with her long time collaborator and husband Jorge R. Gutierrez and what a team they are! Having their first child, Luka, they are a wonderful group and I am very lucky to have met such a great family/team. Our photo shoot was a ton of fun and seeing it in print is pretty exciting.

I had the opportunity to accompany Marshall LaPlante, photographer, and the LAPD on an amazing flight in a helicopter around Los Angeles. No words can really describe how awesome this was but I definitely took quite a lot of pictures. Here are just a few of the many images I have...

I got the opportunity to meet and photograph three environmentally conscious women who are on top radar in LA's green scene; Sophie Uliano, Anna Getty, and Priscilla Woolworth. They were so friendly, passionate, and love what they do. Talking during our shoot about there upbringings, how they live "green" and what we all can do to help our mother earth has definitely inspired me to make a few changes in my life to go more "green."

Kelly McGillis Photo Shoot for Arroyo Monthly!

Yes, thats right! I photographed THE Kelly McGillis! Top Gun's Kelly McGillis!

Arroyo Monthly called for a shoot and what a great shoot it was. She is going to be in a play here in Pasadena at the Pasadena Playhouse. "The Little Foxes" is playing from May 22nd-June 28th and it looks like a good one! She was great on set and we chatted the whole time, the whole 30 min I had with her! The shoot had to be a quick one but 30 min is all I needed! We definitely worked well with one another and I got some great shots of her. Check them out!

Photo Shoot with Art Director Mary Kay Stam

I was fortunate enough to have met Art Director Mary Kay Stam and we immediately clicked. She went to school at Otis College of Art and Design and Art Directs for Creative Age Publications and also works the freelance scene. We have always talked about working with one another and we finally did! One of her clients needed some photo work and she gave me a ring.

It's been a busy few months!

So since February I have been pretty busy and haven't had much time to update my blog with any new work! Well I definitely have some new work and new things that have been published that I'll post up this week.

I've shot for a new magazine, have some new clients that I am working with, and still shooting for the same magazines that I have been shooting for already. I've got some photo shoots in the works and talking with some other magazines out in New York! So sit tight and new work will be up soon!

Ya, that's right. The cover! Getting the call to shoot the cover of Arroyo Monthly was pretty awesome but actually seeing it in print is even better! There is just something about holding the magazine with your picture on it that really makes it that much more awesome!

What a great way to start the new year, shooting a cover of a magazine!

I got called from Arroyo Monthly to photograph Leslie Uggams for their February issue. Leslie is a Tony and Emmy Award-winning actress/singer and started her lengthly career at the age of six! She opened for huge legends such as Louise Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, and Dinah Washington. Among all of her talents, she is portraying Lena Horne in the play "Stormy Weather" at the Pasadena Playhouse January 21 – March 1, 2009. I sat in on one of the rehearsals and it sounds like an amazing play. I've got my tickets and hope that you get yours too. Leslie Uggams has an amazing voice and should be heard in person live on stage!

Pasadena Weekly - Keanu Reeves

Pasadena Weekly called again and sent me off to photograph Keanu Reeves, Director Scott Derrickson, and two Caltech professors Sean Carroll and Joel Burdick. Off promoting his new movie "The Day the Earth Stood Still", Keanu and Scott stopped by Caltech for a pannel discussion about the movie and science. It got the cover story so make sure you pick one up!

Old Warehouse Shoot

A good friend of mine asked me to come by her old ice manufacturing warehouse in downtown LA to capture the space before its torn down. The building was built back in the early 1900's and boy did it show! With the old building scent in the air, dust everywhere, and paint chipping off I could almost consider it a playground for me!

Garry Marshall: Verdugo Magazine

A few weeks ago Verdugo Magazine hit me up to photograph Garry Marshall on the set of his new play, Happy Days. He wrote "Happy Days" and "Laverne & Shirley", produced a whole bunch of hit movies, and acted in many many more. It was great to meet him and snap a few pictures! In the photo with him is Matt Walker. They are working together on the play Happy Days and to get them in the same room is almost impossible.

I was introduced to Emily Moon to photograph some of her clothing line and I couldn't have been more excited! She is a local fashion designer here in Los Angeles and her design is off the charts awesome. Her and I definitely share a passion of graphic shapes and we came together and created an awesome fashion story.

I got the call to shoot this story on food foragers who are hired by the city's top chefs to hunt down hard to find items, as well as particularly high quality ones. It was an awesome shoot and I got to meet some awesome Chef's here in Los Angeles.

If you are in the Glendale area you should pick up the August issue of Verdugo magazine. I was called to photograph this adorable coffee house in Burbank and more specifically there signature cappuccino. Romancing the Bean is where it's at. They are tucked in the heart of Burbank just off of San Fernando Boulevard shops and restaurant area. I'm definitely going back to this coffee house and you better believe I'm drinking there cappuccino.

Well, those of you in the area should definitely pick up this week's issue of Pasadena Weekly! Those of you who aren't go to there website, www.pasadenaweekly.com.

I got the call to photograph this cool bike/wheelchair at CalTech and it made the feature story! It was definitely fun to meet some of the students who have contributed there time and minds to create this bike/wheelchair. It is truly awesome. They have created a wheelchair that is life changing for disabled people all over, all out of mountain bikes. It is inexpensive to make and has already made its way to Guatemala. Read more about it in the paper...!

Sheryl Nields Internship

On my spare time I've picked up an internship with amazing and inspiring photographer Sheryl Nields. She has been an inspiration to myself and my work so finding the opportunity to intern under her I gladly and giddily accepted.

I'm working at her studio and am seeing and learning so many amazing things! She has a flawless cinematic way of lighting her subjects and has an incredible eye for creating mood's with lighting, framing, and her unique environments. She has won a few awards one of which was the Third Annual Lucie Awards Fashion Layout of the Year in Angelino Magazine. She has shot numerious cover's, movie posters, and so much more. She is definitely somebody that I can learn a lot from.

I Graduated!

Well, that time has come...I graduated Art Center! yessss! WIth a final GPA of 3.7 and the chance to walk with Honors it feels great to be done. I finished up in two and a half years and what a crazy two years it was!

I graduated with a talented group and felt proud to experience graduating and our grad show when them all. Michelle Rubio, Mandy Hayes, Lilac Perez, Jason Woolway, Bettina Chavez, and Lauren Noble, we all came together and put on a great show!

Altpick Awards Gallery!!

Last night was such an amazing night! It was the Altpick Awards Gallery down at Bellevarado Studios in Los Angeles. I got to meet some of the other winners and other people in the industry, Corbis and INKY to name a few! I had my own little crowd show up and I have lots of pics to show!
